Indian stories, Australian screen - RMIT Indian Film festival to Kickstart from 1st December!

Bollywood comes to Melbourne in a festival of Indian cinema and international conference at RMIT.

Curated by academic Dr Vikrant Kishore from the School of Media and Communication, the conference will delve into aspects of making Indian content in Australia, including co-productions and collaborations.

The film festival will showcase an eclectic mix of Bollywood blockbusters, indie and cross-over films, alternate cinema and regional movies.

Spread over four days, the festival will screen 21 films and will include a QandA session with filmmakers.

Together, the conference and film festival provide exciting opportunities to discuss issues of creating content, funding and distribution through traditional as well as new media outlets and to see what the screen producers of Australia have been making for Indian audiences.

Speakers include Professor Richard Allen (City University of Hong Kong), Ritesh Shah (Screenwriter, Pink), Anupam Sharma (filmmaker), Professor Ambrish Saxena (Zee Lean, New Delhi, India) and Vipin Sharma (actor).

The opening film is Bollywood blockbuster Pink, directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and the closing film is the Australian premiere of - Kachru Mazha Bapa (My Father’s name was Garbage), directed by Mukesh Jadhav.
