India's fashion weeks, especially Lakme and Amazon India, are always an excellent source of up and coming trends and wedding inspiration. The outfits are extravagant, unique, and contemporary - which means there's plenty to be learned for your own wedding attire selections.

Although it might not be feasible or ideal to purchase the high-end designer lehenga of your dreams, it's still fun to look at the perfect wedding outfit from the perspective of India's best designers and consider alternatives to make or buy your own royal wedding attire.

The wedding reception is probably the event where the bride wants to stand out in her shiniest, brightest attire as she thanks and meets her guests after the day's hectic rituals. Whether it ends up being a classy pastel or a fun, bright purple, the reception saree/lehenga needs to keep all the attention on the beautiful, newlywed bride.

Here are some runway-inspired looks that are perfect for the big, glamorous wedding reception:

Payal Singhal

This lehenga choli is floaty, shimmery, and everything a bride could want for her princess wedding. The white color is simple, elegant, but accentuated by the sequined blouse and matching pattern on the choli.

Anamika Khanna

If you're looking for a twist on the white wedding dress, this Anamika Khanna lehenga has an asymmetric skirt and flowing silver jacket with thick, beaded borders. In fact, the detailed beading on the blouse and sheer jacket really make this outfit stand out.

Anushree Reddy

Muted olive green and bright pink make for a pretty pair, perfect for a unique reception entrance. Gold adds a touch of brightness to the choli in its clean, checked pattern.

Mandira Bedi

You can't go wrong with a strong, solid colored silk saree. A bright orange blouse and magenta border accent the piece beautifully, so it's still a neutral beauty but with a bit of a bold punch.

Neha Agrawal

The denim blouse is a little out there, but the silk, architecture printed choli is so gorgeous. A creative design with beautiful red and blue colors like this one is bound to steal the spotlight.

Kiran Uttam Ghosh

Silvery floaty periwinkle makes this saree perfect for the starlit wedding reception. I love the oriential-style blouse that peeks out beneath all that netted fabric.

Yogesh Chaudhary

Turquoise is an underrated color for wedding receptions, especially fitting if you have a jewel color scheme. This monochrome saree is simple but classic with its large floral pattern and 3/4 length blouse.

Manish Malhotra

This piece was the most popular of Manish Malhotra's noble WEvolve collecion this year. The sequined gold roses on the shimmery blue skirt are too intricate to replicate, but you can opt for a similarly studded halter blouse and choli ensemble.

Anju Modi

A layered, sheer, cherry red saree with a silvery, long blouse? Timelessly chic, with or without the crown. It's also perfect for animal lovers, as the swan pattern is a new level of adorable.
