Melbourne’s Weerama Festival from 18-20th March!

Weerama, meaning "TO PLAY" has developed from a very colourful past. In 1978 the Keep Australia Beautiful Committee merged with Council to form a Festival Committee. The committee was compiled by various interested groups and persons from within the then Werribee Shire. This group developed into the Weerama Coordinating Committee, now known as the Weerama Festival Committee Incorporated.

Acting Mayor of Wyndham city Cr Gautam Gupta interviewed Marcel Mahfoud, the organiser of the Weerama Festival about this year's festival, its history and why it is important for Melbourne.

The Weerama Festival includes the Iconic Weerama Parade, Fireworks, Amusements, Craft Stalls, Activities, Music and much more.

The 2016 festival will be running during the 18th and 20th of March. The festival is different to previous years and will be spread across different sites in Wyndham.

-Friday the 18th will begin at 5pm with live music and ending with a film on a pop up cinema at Arndell Community Centre and the reserve in Truganina.
