During the partition of India Jagdeep Sahab came to Mumbai at a very young age of
6 -7 years.He lost his father and his mother look after him while cooking in orphanage for the family well-being. One day he realised that other children’s of his age are not studying and are working to support their family so he also decided to
help his mother....

selling soaps... finally the day arrived which is a turning point of his life...he was approached by a man searching for
children who can work in film and the act is to just sit quietly that man asked if he wants to work in films ....little
Jagdeep was puzzled as he has never seen movies.... he was busy fighting poverty for his livelihood.That man said that you have to act in the studio Jagdeep asked how much money I will get he said three rupees he was astounded
to hear three rupees he agreed immediately the man said I will take you tomorrow.And the very next day jagdeep reached the studio his mother has taken him there and the scene was that a children's play is going on. And other children are sitting and watching it. Jagdeep was one of the viewer from other children and then a dialogue need to be uttered in urdu and no kid was able to say that urdu dialogue and jagdeep's mother tongue is urdu he asked the kid nearby that what will happen if I recite the dialogue? That kid said that you will get more money you will get six rupees and that six rupees motivated jagdeep so much that he got up and said that I will deliver this dialogue.... everyone agreed.For this dialogue delivery he was made to wear a beard ...the film was B R Chopra's 'Afsana' and Yash Chopra was the Assistant Director and from here there was no looking back for him... he started as a Child Artist...
