SAREE & ROCK: All female group "Meri Zindagi" empowering women through music!
Kirti in conversation with Dr. Jaya Tiwari, founder, singer and lyricist of India’s first All Female Mission Rock Band called ‘Meri Zindagi’.
Drawing inspiration from daily lives and struggles of women, the songs are written and performed to address social issues like female infanticide, domestic violence, child marriage, eve-teasing etc. Their songs are not just about melodious voices and catchy, foot-tapping music but also convey powerful messages for female empowerment to eradicate these deeply ingrained social evils.
Their journey hasn’t been without challenges but the group has remained invincible in the face of all odds and has gone on to do over 200 performances and has led several campaigns.

Meri Zindagi- India’s first female rock band: Since ages India is known for being a male dominant society and there are certain professions that are ruled by men. But in today's era breaking the conservative minds is what has initiated.This band has a mission that when women are empowered they can bring revolution and that reflects in their singing which focuses on issues like girl’s education, gender justice, female foeticide, domestic violence etc.
The band was formed in 2010 but like others it was not an easy journey for them as the taste of people in Rock music is different and to inculcate the social issues is really challenging. But the band under the guidance of founder Dr.Jaya Tiwari succeeded in capturing the attention of audience through their different style mix with social message and since then there was no looking back.
#ROCK WITH THOUGHT
MZ…do not sing for entertainment but to sensitize people and spread awareness on social issues related to women.They have a clear thought that if female exist on this planet then only they will achieve their dream and can empower themselves. So the first fight is to let them be born!
Their goal is never to be a singing sensation or to become famous but to create awareness among people about the importance of women and to provide them a dignified position in society.So the second thought is to get what you deserve!
The band always believes that their songs will quench thirst for social change, slowly and steadily and this group will never take a step back and will continue till eternity!
Dr.Jaya Tiwari along with other members of band- Niharika Dubey, Saubhaghya, Poorvi Malviya, Sweta and Utsavi Banerjee had never imagined that their unique style , music with originality, emotions will mesmerise the audience and they will rule the heart of millions not only nationally but on international platforms too.
The motto is to support those women who never raise their voice against all odds
that are happening in the society and this what that creates the difference!
